About Us

We offer traditional Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate, Progressive Krav Maga and self defence for adults from 18 to 80.  Our Karate training is similar to that of the Jundokan in Okinawa and we are members of the Okinawa Goju Ryu Kenkyukai.

We do not train for sport but for self defence, fitness and personal satisfaction. As we are a not for profit club, our fees are low. Our classes are relatively informal and we strive to keep our training interesting and enjoyable.

Training is at:  34 Industry Place, Bayswater, Victoria. (off Malvern Street)

Karate training

Tuesday and Thursday 6.30pm - 8pm. (advanced training 'til 9pm)

Krav Maga training

Wednesday 7:00pm - 8:30pm.

We encourage ALL karate-ka who have trained in the  past but no longer train, to check us out.  It doesn't matter what style of karate you learned in the past. Your previous experience will hold you in good stead. The most important thing is to get back into training.

On our website we have heaps of interesting information on the different types of martial arts and many of the world's top martial artists.  These people have all had an influence on the type of Martial Art and the style of Self Defence that we teach. Men like Mal McRae who can literally knock you down with a feather to the opposite extreme of Bas Rutten who much prefers the sledge-hammer, top Australian Martial Artists like Billy Manne, Richard Norton and Tino Ceberano, great International Martial Artists like Iain Abernethy, Geoff Thompson and Russell Stutely, and Kyusho exponents like Evan Pantazi and George Dillman. Then we have top Okinawan Goju Ryu karateka like Masaji Taira.  And finally the great martial artists of the past. Men like Chojun Miyagi and Kanro Higaonna. We feature them all and have links and video of them for you.

Self defence is an important aspect of our training. You can check out self defence pages for Women, Seniors or the Workplace  by clicking on the relevent term.

Do keep in mind the Glossary.  It has more Martial Art terms than any other site we have seen. Any terms that you would like added, just send an email.

And finally, do come and train with us. We guarantee that you will enjoy a great experience.
